CONDITIONS WE TREAT

Depression, treated seriously.

Low mood, fatigue, loss of interest, and hopelessness that have lasted weeks or longer. Care that addresses the biology of depression and the life around it.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE

Depression is not just sadness.

Clinical depression is more than a low mood. It is a sustained shift in how your mind and body operate, energy gets harder to find, motivation thins out, sleep and appetite drift, and the things that used to bring satisfaction stop registering.

It is also one of the most successfully treated conditions in psychiatry. Most patients who engage with care see meaningful improvement, though the path can require some adjustment along the way to find what works for you specifically.

At LumenMind, we treat depression as a serious clinical condition that deserves careful attention, not a problem of attitude or willpower. The work is collaborative, and the goal is not just to lift symptoms but to help you build a life you actually want to be present for.

SIGNS YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE

  • Persistent low mood lasting weeks or longer
  • Loss of interest in things that used to feel meaningful
  • Fatigue or difficulty getting out of bed
  • Changes in sleep, appetite, or weight
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Thoughts of hopelessness or self-harm
WHEN TO CONSIDER GETTING HELP

Depression is not something to wait out.

Depression often convinces people that things will improve on their own, or that they are not “depressed enough” to seek help. Consider an evaluation if:

  • Low mood has lasted more than two weeks without improvement.
  • You are losing interest in activities, relationships, or work.
  • Sleep, appetite, or energy levels have shifted noticeably.
  • It is harder to function at work, school, or home than before.
  • You are having thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
HOW WE TREAT DEPRESSION

Treatment built around your specific picture.

01

Thorough evaluation

Depression has several causes and patterns. We take time to understand what is shaping yours before recommending treatment.
02

Evidence-based medication

When medication is the right path, we prescribe carefully and adjust as needed. Modern antidepressants are effective for most people, though finding the right fit can take a few iterations.
03

The life around the diagnosis

Sleep, movement, sunlight, relationships, and meaning all play a role in depression. We work with all of it, in coordination with any therapist you are seeing.
COMMON QUESTIONS

About depression treatment.

How do antidepressants work?
Most modern antidepressants help regulate brain chemistry that affects mood, sleep, and energy. They typically take 2 to 6 weeks to reach full effect. We start at low doses and adjust based on how you respond and tolerate the medication.
A medication that did not help previously does not mean medication will not help. Different classes work differently, dosing matters, and many factors influence response. A fresh evaluation often opens up options that were not previously considered.
No. Some patients work with us on evaluation, lifestyle factors, and therapy coordination without taking medication. We make recommendations based on what fits your specific situation, not a default protocol.
It varies. For a first depressive episode, treatment often lasts 6 to 12 months after symptoms improve. For recurrent depression, longer-term care is often more effective. We discuss expectations openly so there are no surprises.

Reach out anyway. We accept most major insurance, and our self-pay structure is transparent. The cost of untreated depression, to careers, relationships, and health, is almost always higher than the cost of care.
